Maya Angelou died today. She was 86. If you don’t know who she is, I HIGHLY RECOMMEND YOU FIND OUT ASAP. I mean this. She is someone you want to know about, and trust me, you never want to be caught in conversation and be the only one silent when her name comes up.
p. 2, 4, 6 only: you will have a quiz tomorrow and friday in class on their eyes were watching god. we will also finish up the movie and have a class discussion as well as a springboard activity. Friday we will go over your analytical essays and work on them.

DUE MONDAY 04/07
– create a powerpoint with 5-10 (the more the better) images that relate to a PERSONAL theme of yours. Take into consideration that The Arrival is about a cultural perspective on being a child of immigrants. Keep your images focused on a theme. You may use any source for your images, personal drawings, internet, photos, etc.
-write a one page FRONT AND BACK reflection, referring to at least three of those images specifically.
-you will be presenting your powerpoint/images in class for a grade.

create a BOOK REPORT WITH:
-cover sheet, times new roman, double-spaced, name, date and period -every assignment must have a header with name date and period and a title for the specific assignment
1) Book summary including quotes and details from book 2) character sketch, select a character and WRITE about their progress, description, development, etc. 3) figurative language chart, 20 examples of figurative language, at least 5 different ones, must include type of figurative language, quote from book with chapter and location, and analysis 4) reflection

On Thursday you will have a basic multiple choice exam on Othello by William Shakespeare, AND your 45 minute in class essay directly after the exam.
This weekend focus on re-reading key aspects of Othello you can use in your essays.
